Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Requirements

  • What kind of browsers will work with SFM?
JavaScript-enabled browsers, such as Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 and higher or Netscape 6 or higher, work well with SFM. Textbased browsers may not work as well.

  • Do I need to install any software on my computer for SFM to work?
No. SFM is entirely Web-based. To access and use SFM, all you need is a computer with internet access and a browser. “Requirements” on page 1 of the quick start guide provides a detailed list of requirements for using SFM.

Passwords and Logging In to SFM

  • What rules do I need to follow when creating my password?
+ Passwords must be at least six characters long.
    + Passwords are case-sensitive.

  • I cannot remember my password. How can I retrieve it?
For security purposes, all SFM passwords are MD5-encrypted. ScribeNet never sees your password. If you forget your password, send email to support@scribenet.net, and we will send you a temporary password, which you can then reset once you’ve logged in.

    File-naming Conventions

  • What guidelines do I need to keep in mind when naming files and folders?
+ Folder and file names should not exceed 64 characters.
+ Names should begin with alphanumeric characters.
    + Do not use the following characters in folder and file names: * / \ ? & ^ % # " ' < >
+ Instead of using white space (or breaks), use the _ (underscore) character.

  • What conventions does ScribeNet follow when naming reports?
ScribeNet uses the following convention for naming reports:

    Lastname_Dictation Date (YYYYMMDD) _originalfilename.doc

For example, Smith_20040116_DS305335.doc where Smith is the last name of the doctor, 20040116 is the date of dictation, and DS305335 is the original dictation file. To facilitate matching dictation files with transcribed reports, dication files, once transcribed, are also renamed according to the following convention: Lastname_Dictation Date (YYYYMMDD) _original filename.audioType

  • Our office has special file-naming conventions that we would like ScribeNet to use when naming reports. Is this possible?
Yes. Simply let us know your needs and we will try our best to accommodate you.

    Searching for Files

  • How does the SFM search feature work? SFM looks for the search terms that you enter on the Search page (as explained in “Searching for Files” on page 11 of quick start guide) in the body of files and in the file names. Currently, the search function does not support wildcards and boolean operations.

    Supported File Types

  • What file types does SFM support? Any electronic file in any format.
